March 25, 2013

This week has been great! transfers were this weekend and im stayin in Lubbock with my same companion! Im so excited about this next transfer we have a lot of investigators that are getting closer and closer to baptism! So im sick again so this email will probably be a shorter one because ya know who really wants to write a long letter while they are sick!
So lets start out with the most awkie lesson in the history of being a missionary! So we went to a members house to teach one of our investigators her friend wasnt there but the sister was and said she wanted to sit in on the lesson we didn't mind at all! So as we are teaching its a pretty good lesson and we invited the investigator to pray about baptism. Then the member was like can I just ask you something? and we said sure! and she started saying that even if the investigator didn't want to get baptized we would pressure her and stuff... so that was awkie but dont worry it gets worse! The member starts a little rant for about 15 minutes with Anti stuff... seriously most awkward lesson of my life!
On the bright side Miranda is doing awesome! She has been reading and praying and knows that it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks cause she knows the gospel brings her happiness and she also knows that baptism by the priesthood is necessary ! The one bad thing is Satan that cheaky bloke is working on her so bad! Every time she trys to do good she says something bad happens.... and boy did it! This week when she texted us and said she knows how important it is for her to come to church so she would be there 100%! well saturday night her husband was driving back from midland and his tire blew out on the freeway so at 2 in the morning she had to pack all her kids up to go help him... she didnt get home till early in the morning so she couldn't come to church, and she even said that Satan was working hard on her but she said she will never loose her faith because she knows that God is there to help her. She is so awesome and has taught me so much about having faith thru trials.
This week I have learned more then ever that a mission is where I am suppose to be and how much it has blessed me to be here. I had a break down the other day when I realized I had less than a year left and after this transfer I will be 1/2 way done! its crazy! well everyone keep reading and praying and just being legit!

PICTURES!
1.so this first picture has a story! We were at a members house and somehow the name Beulah came up and I was like oh my thats my middle name! And they were like seriously! we have a doll named baby beulah! so this is me holding baby beulah

March 18, 2013

K so seriously! I found out on Tuesday that the bird Road runner thing on the cartoons is a real animal and they are huge! just another bird I have to watch out for! Im pretty sure I almost had a heart attack when the elders told me they saw one..... So that was on Tuedsay at district meeting and that day just kept getting better... but really it did! So we were driving home and there was a weird sound that sounded like a flat tire but it was very faint so I told my companion I said doesn't it feel like the car has a nice little swag to the right? turns out it did... we drove another block to our house and the tire was completely flat!  Oh boy! wanna picture a funny site... two girls in skirts trying to change a tire.... it didn't work out to well so we called the Elders to come help us out.
So this week we did a lot of finding so I just have a lot of really random stories that I think are pretty funny but theres a good chance they aren't... So first! turns out because I got in a car wreck the church labeled me and a "B" driver... how lame is that! so I couldn't drive but luckily I got to go watch a hour video about how to be a defensive driver! Aced that test! I hope you are all happy to know I am now an "A" driver! I was so proud of myself I could hardly contain it! Also more good news! I hear that Kobe Bryant fella hurt his ankle! now I dont like seeing people hurt but I dont mind seein them be humbled! So pretty much after I heard that It was pretty hard to have a bad day...
So while we were knocking we had some fantastic awkward experiences and they were all on the same street!  First we were ya know having a great time knockin and this lady calls us over and is obviously a little drunk and starts talking to us and she was really nice about telling us that we were wrong... but she really was like the nicest lady ever about it! so after about 15 minutes of that we just got to talkin about her life and stuff and boy has she had it hard! so started out she wanted nothing to do with out church ended she wanted to learn more about the plan of salvation but still not meet with us so we gave her a pamphlet on it hopefully she reads it and wants to meet with us!
Next guy on that street so we went to knock the house and the gate was shut and locked so we put a card in it and started to walk away and the guy runs out and wanted to talk to us! he was the sweeted man ever! he loves Utah so much and started talking about how mormons are the nicest people he has ever met (PS we get that a lot!) and he was super open to learn more set up and appointment with him and everything! He gave us apples and pens then right before we left he started talking about how he wanted to kiss our feet.. thats when it got really awkward! so we left...
Also knocking when its super windy outside and your in a skirt... sure you have bike shorts on but when your at a door and your skirts flys up in your face... thats just distracting and 9 times out of 10 the people will laugh with you but this street... nope... they shut the door on you or just star right at you... its kinda creepy if ya ask me!
anywho here are some pictures!
First two are becoming an "A" driver!
Then us in our T-Shirts! mine says I once was lost but now im found
and last the sun set... the picture really doesnt do much good for it... but I promise it was so pretty!

March 11, 2013

So this week has been a windy week well only for a day or two.. but it was bad. You don't really think about it but walking around in the wind all day in skirts takes a lot of talent! talent this girl does not have! Also mom would be so proud of me! we were asked on friday to give a talk in church on sunday but with our schedule we did not have much time to prepare! I mean it was not even close to being the best talk ever it actually only lasted 10 minutes and they asked us to do 15 till 20... so that was awkward and the entire time im thinking If I had an hour for every minute like mom teaches this talk would be boss! luckily it was on sacrifice and thats what my farewell talk was on so I was able to remember some of that so blessin from above!
This week while we were walking to an appointment we met James on the side of the road we talked to him for a few minutes and he invited us in but we were late for an appointment so we told him we would come back. Well we went back last night and talked with him and his wife. They are so awesome! I love them so much! when we walked in Swamp People was on and I knew at that moment they were my new favorite people in Lubbock. then after talking they really are super sweet! They both have a lot of questions that can all be answered by the church! We read the into to the Book Of Mormon with them and the wife got super excited and ready to read it and James was a little more hesitant and said that he would re read the intro then read the testimonies at the front and write down questions for us.
Also on Tuesday we went and visited Miranda, She is super awesome. she was telling us how everyone keeps telling her not to come to our church because its of the devil and stuff but she says no matter what church she goes to she always comes back to ours because she feels most comfortable there. He parents are in town this week and are super Anti so we are just praying she keeps reading the BoM and stays strong thru it all.
Sounds like everything is going good in Utah! baby Parker looks adorable.... well done Reeves family well done! Funny story of the week actually happened this morning! so as I was sitting there putting my make up on my companion came and just said hi... oh my heavens bevens it freaked me out! I screamed so loud that the scream scared her! then we both sat there and laughed for a few minutes it was fantastic! hope y'all have a blessed week!

March 4, 2013

Howdy! oh I said that the other day it was epic BTW! so this week has been great! me and my new companion get a long really well. We are basically like real sisters because we annoy each other all the time then the next minute we are laughing its fantastic! So when I was at home a lot of people always said I reminded them of Barbra Jean from the show Reba.... this week 2  more people told me that! so looks like im Barbra Jean the rest of my life... anyway thats just a random little fun fact.
So this week we have been working a lot with Less active members. They are really progressing and we finally got a family to church on sunday so that was really awesome! We have been having to do a lot of finding and unlike my self my companion hates knocking so we are trying to find different ways. obviously the most effective way is thru the members and they have been doing great but we still need more people to teach. So saturday was not the best day ever again but I kinda love those days and weeks because I get excited for the blessings God has for us if we keep working hard and dont give up. And let me tell you yesterday was awesome! we had 2 suprise people come to church! one of them we have been teaching just has never been able to come before and the other one really wants to know more about the church! so we are starting to teach her this week!
We are still working with Jimmy we fasted and prayed for him and we are still not sure what we can do to help him progress more so its been hard. Miranda is doing great! we helped her move in last week and have met with her twice. Once was because her daughter was super sick and she asked if she could get a blessing. I think it really helped her to experience that. Im really excited for her! She is already getting involved in the play group in our ward so she has great fellowship!
I think the most frustrating thing about being a missionary is you can see that happiness the gospel will bring people they just have to act! I have seen it so much that if people would just pray sincerely about the Book Of Mormon happiness and peace can come into their lives. Usually I just wanna smack them across the face and call them stupid for not reading it. but dont you worry I try to restrain myself!
Sorry this email is so short. nothing to exciting happened this week... and I dont wanna bore you with what I ate yesterday, but now your probably dying to know what I had! I had some chicken! sorry im not on instagram on my mission! well see ya! read your scriptures and pray you wont regret it!
