Sorry I know its tuesday but thats because in Texas its snows 2 inches and everyone shuts down so we were stuck in our apartment all day yesterday! Oh it was so nice to drive down the road today and have piles of snow everywhere it made me feel at home! While we were inside for the snow day me and my new companion Sis. Peterson (who is totally boss) decided we wanted Pizza, mainly because we were starving and all our food was gone in our house. So at around noon we called the local Pizza hut and ordered pizza. They said it would get to our house around 1... so 1:45 came around and we called them and they said to wait 15 more minutes... so then 2:30 came around called they said the same thing.... called again around 3:45 and they told us they we never ordered pizza and they didn't have our number or anything written down... So at this point im starving my face off I got so mad I said fine im calling Dominos! so we called and ordered pizza from them 30 minutes after ordering we were eating pizza. So what did I learn? I hate pizza hut as much as cassi hates Tunex! We also did a puzzle, watched every church movie and went to get the mail... so turned out to be a pretty okay day! Dont worry y'all thats not the only good thing that happened this week. Like I said I got a new companion! She is great! she actually knows Sam and Maren Reeves! She was in Choir with Maren so thats always nice to have a connection. We get along fantastic we have had a lot of fun and have done a lot of work so thats great. She is super OCD so our house is super clean all the time! Also saturday! Kurt got baptized! oh I was so happy for him! He really is such a great guy and was really ready to accept the gospel in his life. He was able to bare his testimony at the baptism and it is just nice to know that I was able to be a part of his conversion and the Lord taught him through me. Most everyone we have been teaching got baptized so this transfer is going to be a lot of finding! but thats okay because I think finding is one of the funnest things ever! you get to talk with and meet so many new and interesting people. I have to beg my companions to go knocking because I love it so much! But luckily God has also blessed us with people to teach. A lady called this weekend and said her friend was moving into our ward that wasn't a memeber. So we went and helped her move in. She has been going to church in Midland for a few weeks and has wanted to talk to missionaries but was waiting untill after she moved to meet with them. So we are helping them move in and unpack this week and hopefully starting to teach their family. We also have a few member referrals that we get to try the next few weeks that we are excited about. Thanks everyone for everything y'all do! Heres some pictures! 1. what I wore to get the mail!2. We finally got our pizza!3. Kurts baptism!
I know your all just dying to know where Sis. Rose is going to be for the next 6 weeks! Im staying in Lubbock! but getting a new companion. My new companion is Sis. Peterson I have met her once before at our Christmas conference and we pretty much clicked right away there and were making jokes the whole time so im pretty excited! But dont be sitting there thinking thats the best part of the week.... cause it wasn't! this week was pretty much just exploding with awesomeness! Now I'll start with the least exciting then end with the best part of the week! So first! As many of you may or may not know is our family there is Sundaes on Ash Wednesday! and this week being ash wednesday and my companions first name being Ash it was only natural for her to buy us all sundaes! the picture for that lovely event I will send! Next! while knocking a man answered the door and I said oh my heavens bevens this guys is Dick Clarks twin! he shut us down real quick... so looks like He did not have a rockin new years eve after all! Also I recieved a fantastic package in the mail this week! I dont know who it was from but they know me very well! y'all should be jealous cause this girl got some purple stuff in the mail! It was kinda embarrassing I may have cried with excitement! NEXT! Before I tell you the next one there is a background story. So I have been trying to be as lady like as possible on my mission and that includes the elders opening my doors and when they do I curtsy at them cause thats was a lady would do... anyway its very hard to try to train Elders to be gentleman sometimes... But luckily this week was Stake conference and it was a broadcast from SLC and Elder. Scott talked all about how boys should be gentleman and women should be more lady like! needless to say I haven't had to open a door since when Im around the elders! But wait the week still got better! So we are teaching this sweet old German lady named Margret, Oh boy she is a hoot! she has a super thick German accent that just makes my day every time we go and see her. This week when we went to visit her she tried to teach us German... oh boy that did not work... we were sitting there trying to say the same word for like 15 minutes and I still dont know what it is suppose to sound like... Anyway she has never been able to fully join a church because she has always had one question that no one could answer.. Who Cain married... Luckily for her us LDS peeps have the true religion and the answer! thank you Pearl of Great Price! amirite! Also this week Renee finally got baptized! It has been the most stressful few weeks cause we never know if she will be home that saturday or not cause she had deaths in the family but it finally happened! Of it was amazing! she was so open and willing to learn and to follow Christ its amazing! Also Kurt! He really is the more legit person I have ever met or taught! So he was a trucker before and ya know truckers say thats a big 10-4 for a conformation. well he had accepted a bap date and everything but was still looking for that big conformation then someone shared with him Moroni 10:4 and he said be for he ever looked at it he know it would give him the answer he needed... and it did! He just keeps getting more and more legit everytime. We had dinner with him and the bishop last night and he just asked the bishop he was like so I know I dont get baptized till next week but I would really like to set some volunteer stuff up with you right now so I can be helping the church out in anyway before im a member... did he just ask for a calling? I think so! Anyway needless to say this week really has been full of blessings! I really have seen that the blessing come after the trial of your faith. That is probably the biggest lesson I have learned on my mission so far. Thanks again for all y'all support! love ya! PICTURES!!!!1. Skyler and us doing the dont covet sign for the 10 commandments 2. Renee's baptism 3. sundaes on ash wednesday! 4. ransom lake
Hey y'all! this week has been fantastic! We had some great lessons and just had some good ol time fun! So first on tuesday we did exchanges so I was with SIs. Lao. Oh boy did we have a hoot of a time! we were booked with lessons so we didn't even have lunch till 4 and dinner till 9! Our first lesson was with Jimmy and it was awesome! We watched Mountain of the Lord. the spirit was super strong and everyone was crying during the movie. after the movie Jimmy said it answered all his questions but he's still waiting for a answer from God to get baptized. We went back on friday to visit him and he just keeps getting closer and closer! he is so awesome! I just love him so much! After our lesson with Jimmy we went and taught Carolina a lady we knocked into. We brought one of our ward members and boy did they hit it off! they already made plans to go to a movie and to do lunch together! its was awesome! the only thing is that they didn't let me or sister Lao talk at all really.... so there wasn't even a lesson... but good news is they both got a new friend! We had a few other lessons after that and then went home. I was so tired! Sis Lao somehow found out that I have nightmares about waking up with people staring at me... So she thought it was funny to keep standing over my bed and scaring me! Holy Cow! I was freaked out! I punched her in the by mistake I was so scared one of the times! It was hilarious! Anyway exchanges were good to have a change for a little bit. This week we also talked to Kurt! he is the most legit person I know! I love him so much! we taught him the plan of salvation and he accepted a bap date! after we were saying how we needed to teach him a few more things before. and he was like well I got time now im ready to learn! He was just so excited and happy about being baptized I cant wait! its the week after transfers so I hope im still here. He was so excited when they announced it in priesthood he just stood up and bore his sweet little testimony on how he knows this is the right thing to do and how excited he was for it. Renee finally got back in town so we are hoping for her baptism this weekend. This week has just been fantastic! Yesterday while we were knocking this guy was walking down the street and im all hey Zahrt we need to talk to him. So we may or may not have chased him down... We talked to him and he was actually kinda creepy... He was talking about demons and stuff but then he was like but I've been prayin for God to send me somethin to help me get them outta me... So naturally we offered him a book of mormon and said that if he ever wanted to talk about it to call this number... we gave him the Elders number so dont worry :) y'all are fantastic! Love you so much happy Valentines day!
Howdy! this week really was fantastic! first good news I heard that someone is maybe trying to buy Hostess back... HAZZAH! how embarrassing for those people that went out and bought a million boxes.... Dont worry cass I wont say any names :) As many of you probably know last week wasn't the best on the mission but we all know that Heavenly Father blesses us when we go through trials so this week was lets just say EPIC! lets start with the Pit of the week... Renee had a death in her family and had to go out of state for 2 weeks so she didn't get baptized and cant for 2 weeks.... but she is still doing awesome and reading the Book Of Mormon so thats great!
Also Jimmy! so he tried to drop us last week but heaven knows you cant drop sis. Rose! so we called him on friday and he said we could come over. When we got there he said he just needed a little break but that he wasn't done with us yet. He said he wasn't coming to church sunday cause he had to go with his daughter.... LAME! anyway I just kept prayin and prayin that he would come to church... and guess who walked in on sunday! thats right JIMMY! after church he asked if we could meet with him on tuesday! im so excited that he doesn't hate us!
We also got a referral from a member about Kurt. We talked to him on the phone on monday and set up a time to meet with him satuday... all week we were so excited to meet him cause of how awesome he sounded on the phone! The lesson was great and he came to church after church he asked if he could see the next baptism that was going to happen! so legit! anyway a funny story or two about Kurt... first he was a stand up comedian so thats just awesome... second he got kicked out of a comedy club for laughing to hard... and the best for last.... So he used to be a truck driver and he is probably 5'9 and 380 lbs and his co driver was 6'3 and 532 lbs. they called them selves the half ton team! when they went to get weighed they would have ot get off the truck so it wasn't over. haha dont worry he was laughin about it too so im not being mean.... anyway we are super excited we found so many great people this week that are so willing to learn and we can see how the gospel can help them! its amazing!
Oh my I almost forgot! I found the best church ever for a hipster! So we had a lesson with a traveling minister... and when we asked what church he was from he said it didn't have a name... and we were like oh okay so If I wanted to google it or something what would we google and they said that people who say bad things about them call them the church with no name... but it gets better! so the only way you can go to church is you have to know someone in the church and they have to invite you to thier house for a service.... its like impossible to find unless your part of their network.... and aparently it is nation wide! and this guy and his co worker dont have a hosue they just stay at peoples that are part of this hipster church... its cray cray!
Anyway I love y'all and thanks so much for your support! hope the Ravens were your team cause if not im sorry..... um..... k Loveyabye!
