December 16, 2013

Well y'all I'm not gonna lie its been a weird week here in Monahans... I don't remember much of it but that seems to be more and more common these days, don't know if that is good or bad. I do know that we have been busy though! haha so I guess I'll tell you the things I do remember.
So I had to go in and finish my root canal because they decided not to finish it the last time. While I was sitting in the chair awaiting my torture I heard a lovely voice! Who was it? well it was David Cook singing to me! I said there is a God! but unfortunatly the song ended and I looked out in front of me in the giant window there were about 6 birds just sitting there staring at me. I can only think that they were trying to figure out how to come attack me while the dentist was attacking me. Don't worry I still know there is a God but when I see birds I also know there is a devil.
The good news is after that traumatic event I was able to put the past behind me and get back to missionary work. And we did see a lot of miracles this week! First with Sandra. We have been visiting with her for a while and I just love her to death! We were talking about the Book Of Mormon and she went on about how she loves fiction and vampires and zombies and all this stuff and im thinking where the heck is this going? We asked if you thought the Book Of Mormon was true... But at the very end she was like I guess what im trying to say is I love the Book Of Mormon even though its now fiction and it is true. HAZAH! She knows its true! when then invited her to be baptized and before we could finish she was like "YES! oh I'm nervous! but yes yes oh that scary yes I'm ready..." Oh it was so amazing! I love the people here so much I still am blown away by how much I have come to love the people I get the chance to meet.
We also have been working a lot with Judy who I also just love! She is my type of girl! She is so hilarious! and she loves the gospel! She also told just this week she knows the Book Of Mormon is true. Something I have learned on my mission if someone actually reads the Book Of Mormon chances are they know its true even if they don't admit it.
Well y'all are awesome! Cant wait for Christmas I'm super excited to skype with my family that is in like 9 days but I'm totally not counting down, but actually I totally am... well y'all have a blessed day!
Oh so the picture! I was convinced I had leprosy this week so I was dying on the floor. Turns out it was just some dry skin and bruises so I'm good! don't worry

December 9, 2013

It finally became winter for a few days here! in the 30's for 4 whole days! and now its heading back up to the 50's... but Oh the cold was amazing! Reminds me of home!
Anyway this week has been amazing in Monahans! If I could discribe it in one word it would be miracles! First with Judy, We taught her and her kids the restoration and used a drawing to help the kids understand it and they all loved it so much! Judy agree'd to be baptize! When we went over the next day she was telling us that her youngest two kids took the picture to school and started teaching their classes the restoration! The teacher even had to call Judy to the class room because her kid forgot if the apostasy was when the church was on or off the earth. Anyway that was a fun little story, before you know it these two kids will be the best missionaries ever! Probably do a better job then me! The girl even asked the class if they had questions at the end. Then her mom asked if they did and she didn't know the answer what she woudl have done and the little girl said. I was praying they didn't but thats what the missionaries did so I knew I had to do it!
Then we had a lot of other miracles I cant think of right now... but they happened and they are in my journal! so I'll tell y'all about them when I get home.
Anyway thanks y'all for everything! Sorry this was a little short....
Here is a picture of the beautiful sunset! Im gonna miss these

December 2, 2013

So this week was fantastic! I know your all dying to hear about what I did on thanksgiving. Well we decided that since we would be feasting we should burn the calories before hand. So we decided to do a 5k! Oh it was nice! I wanna make it a tradition so anyone that wants to join me next year is more than welcome! It really was super fun and in utah it should be great with the snow and everything!  Anyway after the 5K we went home and we were already to make some of Grandma Rose's pumpkin pie for the dinner we were invited too then we realized we didn't have one ingredient so we couldn't make it. so we used the recipie on the back of the pumpkin can. A few lessons we learned. 1) Dont put a prebaked crust in the oven. 2) when the pie looks bad wait till it cools to try to cover it with whipped cream. and 3) even ugly pies taste delicious.
So after thanksgiving the week just kept getting better! So we met this guy named Brady that is super legit! We are actually teaching him for the first time tonight and Im super stoked! he reminds me a lot of Dusty in Brownwood.I love seeing how God prepares people for us to teach. It really is amazing! I got a blessing the other day and it said that my "creative" ways of teaching will help those in this area... well shoot put pressure on my creativity! so if y'all got any ideas I would love to hear them!
Oh we also got transfer calls this week! and im staying here! woot woot! can I get a yeah yeah! I know cass will give me one!
Anyway that was pretty much my week. hope y'all have a blessed week!

November 25, 2013

So yeah! Its cold finally here in the good ol state of Texas! even though its only 30 it feels so much colder than Utah because of the wind. And yesterday they had to cancel church because it was raining ice you couldnt even walk outside without falling! So we had to stay inside all day long!  It was great for comp unity! We made up a few dances and boy am I sore because of it! I whipped my hair a little too long!
Well the first day it was raining before we were forced to stay inside we got out of a lesson and it was so peaceful out side. Just the quiet night. Thats what I love most about the snow you can just sit outside and feel so much peace and just think about life.
So this week we had a lot of miracles happen! First when we were teaching Leon we went in planning on teaching the Word of Wisdom but the lesson completly changed and the spirit was super strong we started teaching about scripture study and praying everyday and how important it was. Cause we know when you do that you have a better day. And days make up months that make up years that make up a life time. So if you want a happy life just read and pray everyday! sounds easier than it is but ya get the point.
We also were able to meet with Sabrina (and no cassi not melissa joan heart) We have been trying to meet with her for a few weeks but things keep coming up. We were on exchanges so it was actually me and Sis. Turner that taught it. The spirit was super strong and after the first vision when we asked how she felt she said " I just feel like smiling" Well thats perfectly okay smile your heart out! and thats the spirit!
Anyway we were really blessed this week in the work and I hope I get to finish my mission here this place is so awesome!
Thanks so much for all y'all do for me and I can feel your prayers :) HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

November 18, 2013

Another week in the good old metropolis of Monahans Texas! but really its been a gerat week! a lot of miracles have happened. Mainly yesterday! We had a family come to church that we have been trying to get to come the whole time I have been here and actually since like July! It was so excited! The branch was so welcoming to them too! It really is amazing what a difference it is to be welcomed and remembered when you come to church on Sunday! We were also able to find a lot of people last night to start teaching that we are excited about!
So as many of y'all know I am a big fan of TV. I really really love it. and I often thought it was one of my "talents" to know so much about it and I have been wondering how will this talent assist me on my mission? I cant watch TV! Well this week it happened....  So we were teaching Leon and he starts talking about some crazy stuff! and my companions are sitting there like what the heck is this kid talking about circling angels with holy water to trap them. Meanwhile im there thinking oh Leon the TV show Supernatural is NOT real! so once he was done with his little rant I nicely informed him that I knew exactly what he was talking about and that it was not realy. I was also able to talk to him that although that show focuses mostly on the bad stuff. Anyway because I watched so much TV at home I was able to help him out a lot! So to everyone who said I was "wasting time" I wasn't... haha Oh good times.
Honestly I cant think of much else that happened this week. I'll try to send picture. Sorry I haven't as much. It takes like 5 minutes to send a email with one in it..
BUT LOVE Y'ALL SO MUCH!

November 11, 2013

Well this week has gone by way fast! Im trying to think of all the stuff that happened! shall we start with a story about donuts? You can never go wrong with donuts! So one morning we decided we would wake up early and run to the donut shop for excersice then get us some donuts then take a nice relaxing walk home. So ya know we wake up early and I am ready to go! so we start with a nice jog ya know then my comps run a little faster than me so they are ahead next thing I know I step in a pot hole and im on the ground... anyway twisted my ankle and my comps look back like what the heck? so im laughing my head off! and they are like should we just go home? HECK NO! I woke up early for a donut im getting a donut! so I gimped over to the donut shop then gimped the mile back... and it was totally worth it!
As for missionary work we found some really awesome people this week! One is Leon. We taught him a few weeks ago and dont know how interested he was but this week when we taught him the Plan of Salvation the spirit was super strong! He said it answered most the questions he has had his whole life. He came to church sunday and the ward welcomed him right in! Turns out he's cousins with some members too so that was super awesome!
Im super excited for the work here in Monahans its going to be epic!
Oh my goodness I almost forgot! So you may remember me talking about the goose on the loose the first sunday at church! well same child attacked me again but this time in the form of a tiger... I was at one end of the hall and the kid was at the other. We made eye contact then he got on all fours and started charging towards me... I didn't know what to do so I just started laughing yelling to my companions for help! but they didn't care they were encouraging him. so he gets to me and starts clawing me! its was the scariest most hilarious thing of my whole life!

October 28, 2013

Well got transfer calls this week end! Im going to a little place called Monahans! Im actually pretty excited! I have wanted to serve there my whole mission! I hope I end my mission there that would be real nice... I hate packing. but thats okay its fun! Im gonna miss Brownwood its been real its been fun im sad to leave the people not so much the town. My two new companions seem cool. I came out with one of them and I thought she was hilarious even though she wasn't trying to be and the other one I met a few weeks ago and she seems pretty fun so im excited!
In other news John got baptized on saturday! Im still in shock. I will probably always be in shock with that kid... The baptism went well I gave a nice little talk on the Holy Ghost. Sometimes I forget how blessed I am to have the gift of the Holy Ghost in my life. Its crazy to me to once I start thinking of everything he does for each of us!
Im trying to thing back on what we did this week and a realize this may have been the longest week of my whole life! So on tuesday we did exchanges with the other sister. While I was with Sis. Dunham knocking it was pouring rain like cant see while driving rain and we were knocking a dirt/mud road. But it was probably one of the funnest knockings of my life! No one on the whole street answered be me and her sure did have a lot of fun!
Sorry this letter is so short... Im soooo tired my fingers can barley type... but hey the church is still true!
Love y'all!
SO hopefully these pictures send if not it will just be in a few different emails! One is our last night as companions and the picture really discribes our relationship. Then Johns baptism! Then Elders made me hold a trianchila! i dont think thats how you spell it but its all good.

People keep asking me where is this Monahans you speak of... I have now idea! I think its in the corner of texas by New Mexico... South of Odessa. Dont know where Odessa is... yeah me either. That is why I am super happy that I didn't have to find my way here. Its a smaller town about 7000 people so its rather nice. Im really excited to serve here the people we are working with seem really legit! The branch here is bigger than the "ward" I was just in. There are even pews in this church! I was in shock and so comfy! oh and my dearest sister cassi will love this story!
So Im walking into church first day in the new ward ya know got my cuttest frumpy missionary outfit on ready to own the world! Then all the sudden... well a goose was on the loose! I felt a goose and I looked back and this kid with blond hair gave me the look of death like this is my town back off! needless to say I stayed away from primary the rest of the day.
I also was driving and totally killed a racoon the other day.... cracked the car... it was awkward.
I really dont have much else to say its been a crazy week I honestly dont remember most of it. BUT!!!!! this thurday is going to be epic! we got a call last night that said we get to go to the temple! Im so excited its been waqy to long!
SOrry this letter is lame.... LOVE Y'all!

October 14, 2013

Well today is when I call a Utah day. Its nice a cool looks like it should snow but we all know it wont.... anyway
This week we had some nice adventures! First we did service for one of my favorite people in the world! He name is Alma she is a member here in Brownwood. We helped her clean ehr house because she could not stand on her foot. Oh It was so funny! While we were cleaning we all hear Sis. Bradford scream bloody murder and we're all like what the heck... a Lizzard attacked her and fell into the strawberry kool-aid! It was hilarious!
We also taught John this week! He is planning on getting baptized this saturday and I am so excited for him! He is just not the type of guy you would imagine being religious and we are always in shock after every lesson and the only explanation for it all is that the church has got to be true. Its crazy! but he really is so awesome! I probably told you this story because its probs my favorite ever but the day after we taught him the Word of Wisdom he was telling us his sister asked him why he wasn't drinking tea and he just said. Well I guess im mormon now... haha I love it so much!
Another hilarious story! So one day this week I was too sick to go out and work but we had back to back appointments all day long. So another sister came and stayed home with me. Well that night an elder was asking how our day went and with out really thinking I just said well I was sick so I stayed home but my companions said the lessons went really well! then we continued our conversation. Anyway the next day I got a call... They thought I had stayed home alone and our District Leader was stressing out all night about it! haha oh it was so funny.
We also met a lot of really awesome people this week that we hope will turn into investigators next week. Thanks so much for all y'all do for me! I could really feel the power of your prayers this week! thank you so much! The church is true!
This is me after riding my bike. My companions were fixing a bike I decided I would just be in the way. So I took pictures of myself...

October 7, 2013

Fun fact I dont know if I have told y'all but if you say howdy about 9 times outta 10 the person will reply with howdy... it may just be in Texas but its fun to do!
So General Conference! Oh I love that stuff so much! Every talk had something that I am convinced was ment just for me! The first saturday session what fun for us here in Brownwood. The church was locked and we didn't have a key so the first 30 min we didn't get to hear. Then the satelight was broken so all the speakers looked like aliens but we still got to hear the messages and thats what is important! I really feel so blessed to have a prophet on the earth that is inspired by God. sidebar can I just say he is adorable the way he talks about his wife! I cried.... anywho
We were able to meet some awesome people this week! Roxxann and her daughter have been looking for the truth for a long time. After we shared teh first vision Roxxann looked at her daughter and said do you feel the spirit? Cause I do so you pay attention what these girls are saying is true..... I was in shock for about 30 seconds... but it was a good kind of shock! They are both so excited to come to church and to learn more! we are meeting with them on wednesday and Im really excited!
Other than that it was a pretty normal week. Had interviews with the mission president and they went really well. I know this church is true y'all and it always amazes me when im able to see the change in peoples lives because of it! Read your scriptures and pray everyday and you'll see miracles!

September 20, 2013

Howdy y'all! so compared to last week this week was the best week of my whole life! Well maybe not I hear the week I was born was pretty cool but other than that this is totally it!
First let me tell you just the best story in the world. So as y'all may know at Sonic is was the summer of shakes! And there were rumors going around that the 18th was the last day so me and my companions were waiting till that day to go and try the peanutbutter bacon shake (sidebar its delicious) Anyway so this particular night we decided to go to the drive thru for some reason dont really know. So we all order our shakes and we get up to pay and the lady said " well ladies today is your lucky day someone decided to pay for you" SAY WHAT!  they told us it was the guy in the orange shirt so we were waiting for them to hurry and hand us our shakes to go over and say thanks you. But then he drove away! we have no idea who it was! thinking back we should have paid for the people behind us! But it was just so awesome, we may have all started crying... it had been a rough day and it was just nice to get free ice cream.
So as you may have been able to tell last week was not a fun week for me, I was going through a really hard time so I asked for a priesthood blessing from one of the elders. I am so gratefull for the priesthood many times in the blessing I knew that it was directly from God and he was helping me. Since then I have had so much energy for the work. ITs completely different from last week! I have also been praying to have the spirit lead me more in the work and I have seen that happen so much this week! I'll just tell y'all one example. So we were knocking and we get to this house and I just start talking about how the gospel can bring familes closer together thru Christ. and I mean a lot of talking and im sitting there in my head like umm sister Rose I think they get the point you can shut up now... anyway we made a return appointment and went back. When we got there it was a mom and her 4 daughters and she said that she has been praying and telling God she is ready for her family to be more united in his gospel but doesn't know where to start then we came to her door! The family is so awesome they came to church and loved it! The little girls are so cute the youngest one Sydney (which BTW has blond curly hair so basically my best friend) anyway she loves to sing and asked if we would watch her concert. She sang us some wonderful songs and I started crying I was so happy... it was awkward and embarassing... but it happened...
anywho this week really was just fantastic! I loved every second of it! We also found 2 other families that seem solid that we are going to start working with.
y'all are awesome! Love ya so much!

September 19, 2013

Well this week has been stressfull! holy cow! transfers took up the first few days then we are splitting the area so that took the next few days of confusion, trying to figure stuff out then the guy thats suppose to get baptizedsaturday fell off the face of the earth..
So hasn't beent he best week but cant say its been the worst either. This will just be a short email... which may be a good thing for y'all! anywho So we split the area we are now Brownwood NorthWest..  I know what your thinking! North West! Isn't that Kimmie K's baby name? my sources tell me yes yes it is! So I was kinda excited about that!
The way we are split we cover most of the outlinning towns which I am excited about! I have been wanting to spend more time in them before and now thats most of our area so we will get to do it more! That also means a lot of finding and knocking for a little while. But I kinda sorta love that type of thing so it should be good. We actually foudn this awesome guy names Forest last night while we were finding! He was super excited when we gave him a Book Of Mormon and said that he had been looking for a way to improve his life. So that was really awesome!
Sorry this aint the most exciting email in the world.. but wasn't the most exciting week... but hey thats life. Just means next week will be epic!!!!
Love Y'all keep being awesome!

September 9, 2013

Got our transfer calls this week and im staying in Brownwood with Sis. Barlow and we are getting Sis. Bradford. Seriously did not see that one coming! I was convinced I was leaving this place but Im also excited to stay we are working with some awesome people that are preparing for baptism! One of them is Raulph, he is still doing awesome and working on WoW stuff but he kows he can overcome that with Christ on his side. Its so amazing to see the faith these people have!
We also talked with Danila, She just moved here with her husband, we knocked into her a few weeks ago and she seemed semi intrested we weren't even sure if she would remember we were coming cause the appointment was set 2 weeks before. but when we got there she was so excited and ready! When we shared that families could be together forever she started crying! Its was awesome! Oh sidebar when on a mission its a good thing to make someone cry. Then after we shared the first vision she was crying again! and said I feel all warm and fuzzy inside! Well I then expained that the spirit is the unltimate warm and fuzzy! She really is so awesome and Im so excited for her to use this gospel in her life!
So there was a CES devotional last night I saw that the hashtag was #CESDevo if y'all wanna check it out on twitter. It was so great! It was Russel M. Nelson and he was asking questions. One of them was somthing like "How will you prepare today for your personal interview with the savior?" I guess I never thought of judgment as a personal interview. It really helped me see how Christ does love each of us to spend one on one time with him. Shoot dang hope im in the front of that line! But E. Nelson also talked about how he doesn't know much about the after life but he knows that we will have that personal time with Christ. I just got so excited cause I imagined hugging him and just thanking him or everythin! It really will be such a happy day!
Oh my gosh I almost forgot! So I dont judge other religions to each his own. says so in the articles of faith somewhere.... anywho but we went to this house and at the end we prayed, we asked them if they would like to say the prayer... my bad, She got real excited turned some music on and started making noise and movements like someone was punching her and said it was the spirit... well I sure hope the spirit doesn't do that! then she looked at me and was like why are you scared that spirit wont hurt you... ummm looks pretty painful to me! anyway I was cheesin it up like biggest smile ever because I was trying to hold in my laugh I mean it was hilarious! I may be a terrible person for laughin but I couldn't help it.
Anywho here is a picture we were driving in the middle of down town and all the sudden all these goats appear. Reminded me of the napali's.... Hopw y'all have a great week!

September 3, 2013

Hey guys! Its weird to write on a tuesday but library was closed yesterday. talk about lame! Anywho this weekw as fantastic! First on Tuesday we got together with another Zone and had a "play-day" President Augustin rewarded our whole mission with a free day type of thing cause of the work we have been doing! it was so nice to just relax! And have normal conversaions! I even talked to Presidnet about Burn Notice! never thought I would be doing that ever! He ruined the season for me though.... I'll just pretend I didn't hear him... haha but it was great!
I also got 2 amazing packages this week from my family! What has two thumbs and likes beef jerky? this girl! and my family knows it! haha dont judge its delicious
Also this week MIKE GOT BAPTIZED!!!! like I have said earlier he is the one I haev seen the most change with on my mission! I have just grown to love him so much and I cant wait to see whta else God has in store for him! Sunday after he was confirmed He was so happy! Seriously every rejection and people yelling at us which BTW a lady stalked us this week followed us a 1/2 mile yelling at us... so that was fun. BUT all that is worth it when your able to see someone really accept the Savior into their lives and have that mighty change of heart!
So wanna hear awkward? I'll tell ya! So we were driving and it was night and all the sudden there was a sign that said restricted area only authorized persons allowed... well thats not where I was trying to go! So I went to make  a nice legal U Turn but here in Texas the streets were not inspired by a prophet and im pretty sure you couldnt make a U turn with a little red wagon on these things... SO I had no choice but to go into the restircted area and make a illegal U turn... Well after I had completed my Uturn I looked and a cop was right behind me! I thought for sure they were going to arrest me it was scary! luckily he didn't pull me over... but boy was I scared outta my mind!
anyway thats my life here in B-wood.  Transfers are this week so that should be fun!
Well hope these pictures work!

August 26. 2013

This week was fantastic! full of spiritual epicness! First on Tuesday we had exchanges with our STL and that helped out a lot. Me and her mostly just talked of ways to help my companion. Something I did not realize when I came out is that a lot of the missionary work is in the companionship then a few weeks ago in interviews President told me that right now that was my main purpose for being with the companions I had. So the exchanged helped a lot!
Then we met with this awesome guy names Dave. he just had his 63rd birthday so while we were there teaching he kept saying is it cake time yet? is it cake time yet? so after the lesson we had some delicious homemade chocolate cake! The lesson was pretty good too. We were able to answer a lot of questions he has had his whole life! It still surprizes me when people dont know where we came from and where were going, because I have known it since I was little. And I am so gratefull to be raised in the gospel because fo that!
We also had a few lessons with Mike this week. We have all felt like he is ready to be baptized but just isn't making that step. So we went in and planed on reading Alma 36 and talk more about repentence. Well God had a different plan. The lesson took an awesome turn and ended up being a mini testimony meeting how once we turned our life to Christ everything worked out. I was prompted to tell him a specific experience from a while ago that never thought I would tell him, but after he was like its nice to know that y'all are real people to with real problems. It was such a great lesson! anyway he commited to baptism this weekend and we are all super excited! He has been coming to church for 3 months straight now and doing everything else he needs to be doing. Its awesome!
Oh then the week just got better! We were in the park around dusk and we look over and see something running... it was a Armadillo!!! I have waited a whole year to see one of those things and it finally happened! Don't worry I got pictures! Then the next night same park.... WE SAW ANOTHER ONE!!!! I mean I have seen them as road kill a few times but living... well it was just amazin! Speaking of road kill...  We have made up a new game because Brownwood has more road kill then I've ever seen. So we play guess the animal! somtimes its really hard! But I have become a expert on it.
Well as you can see this week was amazing! Hope y'all are doing fantastic!

Monday, August 19, 2013

August 19, 2013

So this week was like I say hilarious! This is going to sound super self absorbed but I am so grateful Im able to have fun while I do missionary work! but seriously some people think you cant have fun and work at the same time. It's rather sad! anywho so first let me tell y'all about the lesson we had with Mike.
So we watched the prophet of the restoration with him and the spirit was super duper strong. He is so frustrating because he knows its true, he knows baptism is the next step and that he wants to do it but is putting it off. its lame. We even told him he would have to drive 2 hours next sunday for stake conference and he was like that cool does anyone else in the ward need a ride? shoot dang this guy is a dry mormon if I ever saw one! but he is awesome! I really have come to care about him so much and i know how much the gospel can help him if he makes that next step. So the spirit was super strong and noone wanted to leave but we had another appointment with someone we met a few weeks ago so we had to leave.
So for the next appointment we drove about 30 minutes to the middle of no where and we get there knock on the door and He opens up and is like come on in. So we walk in and there was a huge group of people and they all introduced themselves to us then said welcome to our bible study... and that very moment I realized we had been tricked into coming! So turns out his dad is a preacher for a biker church and this was their church meeting. I didn't know what to do at first I was super excited because ya know I have always wanted to go to a biker church, but then I was like oh no we aren't suppose to go to other churches! but we didn't want to be rude so we decided to stay for a few minutes... well that didn't work out too well... We ended up watching church on TV then they asked us what we had to say about it... so I didn't know what to do I pulled out my Book Of Mormon and said I know y'all don't know this is the word of God yet but do you mind if I sahre a scripture... So I did... but it gets better! We were fasting and they kept offering us food. oh and we were going to teach him the word of wisdom and they kept offering us tea and coffee... its was super awkward and I loved every minute of it!
So what did I learn from it? Our church is totally true! The spirit was not there at all infact I was scared to share a scripture because I knew it wasn't the spirit but me that was sharing it. I mean they were all caught up in the excitment they thought that was the spirit! Then I started thinkin! just wait till these guys feel the spirit for real and how much better it feels they will be beggin to come to our church. So I loved it a lot but I also know that there is no doubt in my mind that this is the Church of Jesus Christ and he is the head of it. August 12, 2013

So this thursday I've been out a year.... that makes me sick... time flies by too fast in texas! It really is weird though I dont like thinking about it at all! But I sware more people have asked me how long I have been out this week then ever before! HOW RUDE! anywho this past week was great!!
We met with Mike a few times and his testimony is just growing strong and stronger. When I first got to Brownwood I was praying that I could see that mighty change of heart in someone, cause everyone else I taught was pretty awesome from the start. But not Mike... in fact we were all terrified to go over there cause he was so bitter and mean. But we fasted and the spirit told us to stick with him. You can just tell by looking at him the change that the gospel has made in his life. People at church, other missionaries that have met him keep telling us that they can see how much happier he is and the huge change that has taken place. Even Mike is starting to see it. It funny now we laugh about how scared we were of him cause turns out he's a big ol softy. When we got our new companion he was like im gonna try to be scary like I was before, and he couldn't even pretend anymore he has changed so much! He definatly has been a answer to my prayers!
This week I also discovered somthing about myself... I may have had it my whole like or maybe just since I've been on my mission... but Sister Rose now has a bit of a lisp... and its only on certain words... I first started to notice it a little in Lubbock then this week I was pretending to have a lisp and I was like hold up! I sound like I always sound! then I asked my companions and they were like we thought you always had one.... awkward! im just to lazy to close my teeth when I say S's so yea.... and I have developed a part utahn part texan part thug accent that really just sounds weird... probably gonna need to take a english class again when I get home... who knows maybe i'll get it right the 4th time :) right mom! ;)
Anyway I forgot my planner and it has written down everything I was going to tell y'all, but frankly I cant remember a thing that was on there and that is why im rambling about nothing!
Ash sent me some picture of everyone. y'all are just so beautiful! Cant wait to come home and try to look like you! speaking of beautiful!  Im beautiful and did my hair this week and a girl in the ward was like that is pintrest hair... so I said better take a picture to show my family! here it is! actually I lied the picture wont load... but its a good one... maybe next week!
Love y'all thanks for everything!

August 5, 2013

Silly Cassi asked me today if I knew it was shark week..... uh earth to cass of course I knew that its only my favorite week in the whole wide world! To celebrate it on my mission I have a shark sticker I hung up. So Happy Shark Week y'all! watch it for me... DVR some for me... enjoy it!
So Brownwood is going great! our new companion is freash out of training and is ready to work hard, so that is super nice! Her name is Sis. Barlow I like her a lot. She was kinda quiet the first few days but its getting better now and shes super nice. We have had a lot os success this week too. We got a few new solid investigators we are excited about. one is Mathew, We  met Mathew while morning finding we started talking and asked if there was a time we could teach him more and he said now is a great time, so we went to the parks table adn taught an awesome restoration lesson. After we tried to set up a return appointment and he said " I feel at peace right now, lets just keep going right now." so we read a chapter with him then asked again if we could set up a time and he said the same thing! But we had another appointment so we had to go but we are meeting with him tonight so we are super excited about that. He was raised by a book about how to be a gentleman so its just fantastic! went we shook his hand he bowed and stuff adn I could finally curtsie and not look out of place! oh its so fun to be a lady!
Something I did do this week that wasn't so lady like, I may have killed 3 bunnies... Sowednesday night we were driving back from San Angelo about a hour and a half drive it was dark so through "mountains" really small hills. So im thinking i'll drive slow some deer might try to pop up and kill us. So I was little did I know it was not the deer that would attack but suicidal bunnies! The were running across the road like they were playing frogger with the car or something it was crazy! anyway I missed a few but I think 3 lost their lives... RIP bunnies... RIP... Then I got the best package from home with beef jerky in it and a lovely postcard with road kill on it. Just the cherry on top. It was all kinda hilarious... the first bunny I cried then after that it was just annoying...
So the pictures. One is why Kenzie would hate texas... ran into two of these guys going to San Angelo, and I named the elders new car Shamu! so of course we are doing the wave!
Hope y'all have a blessed shark week!

July 22, 2013

Oh boy let me tell you what this mission thing is an adventure! so many crazy things happened this week! First I'll start with Tuesday some other sisters came to do exchanges with us. While we were out I was with Sis. Thomson , Sis. Fife, and Sis. Kramer. Kramer and Fife have not been out too long so it was super fun. They got a good taste of brownwood within the first 2 hours! As we were walking downt he street a guy on his porch was like oh look mormons and started shooing us away... ya know now big deal happenes all the time... next we went o our favoite park to try to contact people there. We saw this adorable old couple and decided to talk to them... Well the next 20 minutes consisted of them telling us we were part of a cult, didn't read the bible, thought Christ was a polygamist, you know all the good stuff trying to bash with us. Well they wouldn't shut up so I just interupted them and said ma'am I know that this is true because the spirit told me... then another 20 minutes about how there is false spirits that told me the church was true blah blah blah... So finally I just said I dont feel the spirit have a nice day and started to walk away. She then yelled you dont feel the sprit cause you hear truth! .... that was really awkward for me cause thats the job of the spirit is to bear witness of the truth... Then she so kindly invited me to go to josephsmithlied.com so I followed that up witha invitation to mormon.org.... she kept yelling I stoped listening and we all kept walking away... needless to say im pretty sure those two little missionaries may have been scarred for life... But it turned out to be a pretty okay day!
Luckily even though there was craziness all week Jake got baptized which was crazy all in itself because he left for out fo town monday and didn't have a cell phone and didn't get back till saturday morning at 5... so that was really fun. The good news is he showed up and has an awesome testimony!
Church this week was also really great I felt the spirit so strong. People from the stake came and talked on the atonment. One thing I really liked was he referenced to D&C 19 and talked about how when its our turn to drink from the bitter cup in life that we cannot become bitter about it. I dont think im a bitter person but not gonna lie when those old folks yelled at me I was a little bitter about it so that really helped open my eyes.
This week has been a emotional rollercoaster but it ended on a great note so I really cant complain.  Thanks so much for all y'alls support it really does make a huge difference for me! Thanks so much!  No matter what happens the gospels true so life is good!
oh and pictures! one is brownwoods city moto, the other is Jakes baptism

July 15, 2013

Hey ya'll! its just been fantastic in Brownwood! Right now we have 3 solid people that are planning on getting baptized in the next 2 weeks!  with those odds at least one has to go through with it right? One of the Jake is actually Ariels husband. they thought he was a member but turns out they cant find him records so he get to be rebaptized, that doesn't happen too often! I kinda feel bad for him. First he was raised going to church so he knew it all. Then he went thru all the lessons with his wife, then the new member lessons (which are the same ones) after she was baptized and now we have to teach him them all over again! haha I personally think I would love that! he pretty much teaches the lesson. We ask him what he knows and he tells us the lesson then we fill in the cracks and bear testimony! Easiest person to teach I think. plus the family is great! While we were teaching them the other night I looked on the floor and saw a huge spider! so I was like ummm Jake is that a spider? and everyone started screaming and standing on the chairs. So naturally I said Jake your the man kill it! so Sis. Carr threw her shoe across the room for him to kill it with. Oh it was fantastic!
I've also ruined the tooth fairy for a 4 year old this week! So we were sitting in the lesson and somehow the tooth fairy got brought up and I was like yeah my parents allways told me the next door neighbor was the tooth fairy then I found out it was all fake when I was about 10. The mom covered the little boys ears and just started laughing... I felt terrible but it was hilarious so not much you can do about that now! Sorry little boy I wont talk about the easter bunny around you....
So yea turned out to be a pretty okay week! Its finally raining in Brownwood again it was starting to look... well brown and thats just sad. I looked at the clouds a lot this week... Could anyone tell me if clouds are flat on the bottom or if they just look like that.. its been buggin me all week!
Thanks so much! oh and the pictures are...
I forgot I was allergic to cats again....
and my companion crawls at me and creeps me out so I have to defend myself with weights...
Have a blessed day! Love ya!

July 8, 2013

Howdy y'all! Hope your 4th of July was everything you wanted and more! Here in Brownwood we are a million miles from any other missionaries so we stayed inside and played a nice game of Monoploy! at first I was rockin it!  There was a few times I was down to under 50 dollars but made my way back up! but in the end I lost big time. So wasn't the best 4th of my life!
This week has been full of excitment! Mike accepted a baptisimal date that we are super excited about! unfortunately he still wont read the Book Of Mormon so it may not happen as soon as we would like it to. But he is coming to church every week and really changing his life around its just that one thing that keeping him. I cant ever express how important the Book Of Mormon is! I love that thing so much! Im trying to read it all in 1 transfer and I started 2 weeks late... so im reading all during lunch and some of dinner to hopefully get it done.
So this one time we thought we had fles... We went to a members house that had fleas but we forgot about it... So they weren't home so we left and we all started to feel really itchy and stuff. so we pulled the car into a parking lot and were all trying to get the fleas we couldn't see off of us! Then Sis. Thomson was like guys its okay we dont have them. then she turned around and there was one on her foot! it was like a scene from a movie! it was hilarious! anyway we got it all taken care of and we are safe now :)
sorry this is so short... but here are some pictures!
 when I was winning Monoploy
Then me on main street for the 4th!

July 5 2013

Hello! Its been another fantastic week in Brownwood but really like the best week here so far I think. It all startedon Tuesday when we got to road trip it up to Zone conference! While I was there to my suprise in there church there was a picture of my boyfriend Gordan Hayward on the wall! My feet almost fell out from under me I was so smitten! Then the day just got better! I got a package from home with a camera and beef jerky! It was awesome!  On the way home my companion wasn't feeling well so she asked me to drive. While I was driving ya know signing my heart out to some Mo-Tab I saw the speed limit sigh ahead said 50... Well aparently I started going 50 too soon and got my self my very first speeding ticket! So really that wasn't great.. probably the pit of the week.
So thursday is bike day and this week it was super hot but we made sure to be on our bikes! and boy oh boy did we get the blessings from it! While we were trying people we met a nice family that welcomed us right in! We were able to teach the restoration and the dad loved it. Once my companion was done with the first vision he was like yeah I like that... the spirit slapped him in the face real good! So we are super excited to work with them more.
So on thursday night we were about to head in for the night and I had a strong feeling to go visit Carol right quick. We talked to her for a minute and she told us hey I gotta go to bed Im cleaning out a shed in the morning, so we offered her our serivce. So friday morning we were at her house at 7am ready to work! We cleaned out her shed moved some more stuff in there and had a lot of fun. It was really good to be able to build that relationship with her family. But let me tell ya they are crazy! the whole time we were working there was this huge black widow and a wolf spider just chillen there and people were standing by them like no big deal. And im sittin here thinking y'all are totes cray cray! So I was terrified the whole time we were outside and stayed far away from them.
Im sad im missing Park City and the 4th this year. Its my favorite time of year! im not however sad im missing cleaning the hosue before we go...
Thanks for all the support! love y'all!

So pictures!
Our butler Gerard the spider... I dont really like him...
and Gordon Hayward!

June 25, 2013

hey y'all! this week has been great! I got sick thursday and the next few days my companions were sick so we stayed inside a lot... BUT!  it was still a great week! Let me tell ya all about it!
So Mike is progressing really well! each time we go to see him im amazed and the progress he is making! and its frustrating because he cant see it! He says even though he is reading and praying regularly now that nothing is changing and me and my companions are like Mike come on! we can see the change in you why cant you see it yourself! and he was like really? huh... yeah I dont see it. Oh sometimes I just wanna shake people till they understand this is the true church! Agency is so frustrating sometimes! but its a good thing... Anyway we are praying and praying that it clicks in his head soon.
The next exciting thing happened on sunday! So Dusty has this Ex-wife that wont let his kids come to church so we have been praying that her heart will soften and she finally agree'd to let 2 of them come! we were so excited! Then when he walked into church he had all 4 of his kids! I was so full of happiness I may or may not have shed a tear or two I cannot be certain... I was just sitting there thinking ya know this is why Im a missionary is to help families come to the gospel together! It was so awesome! His kids loved church and were begging him to come back next week so hopefully their mom lets them.
Also Sunday night was that broadcast that was so epically awesome! They anounced that missionaires are changing the wars of finding people by using computers more but mostly members! I really am so excited to get home to do member missionary work! It really is crazy how many people are being prepared that are around us! This is a great time for missionary work for everyone! Im sad that y'all dont get to do it 24/7!

The gospels true y'all and its the greatest thing on the planet! This week I really have turned a lot to the scriptures and its amazing the comfort and joy that comes from reading even if it is just a little bit it makes the day so much better! So go read! okay love ya bye!

June 17, 2013

Hey! so transfer calls were this weekend and nothing is changing. There are trios everywhere in the mission I think only 1 companion ship of sister in the mission isn't a trio. Theres so many missionaries coming in its crazy!
This week has been great work wise. We have been super luck and found a family and another lady to teach this week and both seem really solid. When we first started talking to the family the mom was saying how any prophet on the earth today would be a false prophet and alll that good stuff. But after asking some inspired questions and with a lot of help from the spirit at the end of the lesson she was completly accepting prophets and the need we have for them on the earth today. Im always amazed at how the spirit can change someone so quickly and open them up to hearing this wonderful message.
The lady we met Carol is like the 5th Carol we met in one week so when we plan we have carol, Carol# 2, the other carol, and carol from the park. So this is Carol the first! and she is awesome! She welcomed us right into her house again and we got to talking. We taught a little bit of the restorationa and my companion was holding a book of mormon and Carol said "well is that for me to read or are you just gonna hog it?" oh it was great! she took it and as we were fixin to leave she told us she was excited to see us again and to read the book. It was just a great day in that way.
Funny thing that happened this week. I had a mental breakdown and as I was complaining to my companions some how I went from not being a good teacher, to not being able to have diet coke, to not getting married and finally ended with not having enough blankets on my bed. all during this whole rant I was laughing cause I knew how stupid I sounded so it was actually one of the funniest nights I've had in a while! haha
Hope all is going well! y'all are awesome! hope you had a great fathers day! im so gratefull for my dad he's the best! I got to give a talk on sunday about fathers and It just reminded me how awesome mine is and how glad i am to have him in my life! LOVE Y'all!

June 10, 2013

This week has been crazy! I dont even know where to begin.... Well lets start with the baptisms! so we had planned on Dusty and Ariel getting baptized on saturday and we were super exctied! Then Dusty informed us on thursday that he got a new job and training was all day saturday so he couldn't do it then but wanted to know if he could get baptized on Friday. So we had to plan a whole new baptism in less than 24 hrs not to mention we were on exchanges so every 2 hours we were switching companions. It was the craziest day of my life im convinced! But in the end He made is and got baptized and confirmed on Friday. You could tell how much the gospel has helped him. After his confirmation he just kept holding his heart and looking at me and I asked what was wrong cause I mean it looked like this kid was about to have a heart attack! and he just said it feels so good. It was so awesome! Then Ariel got baptized on saturday. she is the cuttest sweetest thing in the world so quite but then when she does talk your blown away because of what she knows and her testimony. I have grown to love both of them so much!
So like I say we did exchanges with our sister training leader Sis. Davis . So while I was with her we went to try a Less Active. We pulled up and there were the cuttest little puppies running around! so while we are saying the prayer we hear a big thud on the car... yup the dogs were attacking the car! but they were little puppies they could cause toomuch trouble right? WRONG! So they were good we got out of the car went to the door no one answered the trouble came when we tried to leave. As we were getting in the car one of the puppies went under the car. So I was standing outside trying to get it out from under the car so we didn't kill it and to my surprise the dog jumps into the car! then the other one comes! So for the next 20 minutes me and Sis. Davis were fighting with these puppies to get out of the car. It was epic, It was fun, It was terrifying.
We are also super excited because a investigator we were giong to drop showed up at the baptism and at church this week! and he has changed so much and actually is making steps to show his commitment! It amazing how God blesses us with people to teach as long as we are doing everything he asks us too. Oh I love the mission so much! I cant imagine my life with out it!
