August 26. 2013

This week was fantastic! full of spiritual epicness! First on Tuesday we had exchanges with our STL and that helped out a lot. Me and her mostly just talked of ways to help my companion. Something I did not realize when I came out is that a lot of the missionary work is in the companionship then a few weeks ago in interviews President told me that right now that was my main purpose for being with the companions I had. So the exchanged helped a lot!
Then we met with this awesome guy names Dave. he just had his 63rd birthday so while we were there teaching he kept saying is it cake time yet? is it cake time yet? so after the lesson we had some delicious homemade chocolate cake! The lesson was pretty good too. We were able to answer a lot of questions he has had his whole life! It still surprizes me when people dont know where we came from and where were going, because I have known it since I was little. And I am so gratefull to be raised in the gospel because fo that!
We also had a few lessons with Mike this week. We have all felt like he is ready to be baptized but just isn't making that step. So we went in and planed on reading Alma 36 and talk more about repentence. Well God had a different plan. The lesson took an awesome turn and ended up being a mini testimony meeting how once we turned our life to Christ everything worked out. I was prompted to tell him a specific experience from a while ago that never thought I would tell him, but after he was like its nice to know that y'all are real people to with real problems. It was such a great lesson! anyway he commited to baptism this weekend and we are all super excited! He has been coming to church for 3 months straight now and doing everything else he needs to be doing. Its awesome!
Oh then the week just got better! We were in the park around dusk and we look over and see something running... it was a Armadillo!!! I have waited a whole year to see one of those things and it finally happened! Don't worry I got pictures! Then the next night same park.... WE SAW ANOTHER ONE!!!! I mean I have seen them as road kill a few times but living... well it was just amazin! Speaking of road kill...  We have made up a new game because Brownwood has more road kill then I've ever seen. So we play guess the animal! somtimes its really hard! But I have become a expert on it.
Well as you can see this week was amazing! Hope y'all are doing fantastic!

August 19, 2013

So this week was like I say hilarious! This is going to sound super self absorbed but I am so grateful Im able to have fun while I do missionary work! but seriously some people think you cant have fun and work at the same time. It's rather sad! anywho so first let me tell y'all about the lesson we had with Mike.
So we watched the prophet of the restoration with him and the spirit was super duper strong. He is so frustrating because he knows its true, he knows baptism is the next step and that he wants to do it but is putting it off. its lame. We even told him he would have to drive 2 hours next sunday for stake conference and he was like that cool does anyone else in the ward need a ride? shoot dang this guy is a dry mormon if I ever saw one! but he is awesome! I really have come to care about him so much and i know how much the gospel can help him if he makes that next step. So the spirit was super strong and noone wanted to leave but we had another appointment with someone we met a few weeks ago so we had to leave.
So for the next appointment we drove about 30 minutes to the middle of no where and we get there knock on the door and He opens up and is like come on in. So we walk in and there was a huge group of people and they all introduced themselves to us then said welcome to our bible study... and that very moment I realized we had been tricked into coming! So turns out his dad is a preacher for a biker church and this was their church meeting. I didn't know what to do at first I was super excited because ya know I have always wanted to go to a biker church, but then I was like oh no we aren't suppose to go to other churches! but we didn't want to be rude so we decided to stay for a few minutes... well that didn't work out too well... We ended up watching church on TV then they asked us what we had to say about it... so I didn't know what to do I pulled out my Book Of Mormon and said I know y'all don't know this is the word of God yet but do you mind if I sahre a scripture... So I did... but it gets better! We were fasting and they kept offering us food. oh and we were going to teach him the word of wisdom and they kept offering us tea and coffee... its was super awkward and I loved every minute of it!
So what did I learn from it? Our church is totally true! The spirit was not there at all infact I was scared to share a scripture because I knew it wasn't the spirit but me that was sharing it. I mean they were all caught up in the excitment they thought that was the spirit! Then I started thinkin! just wait till these guys feel the spirit for real and how much better it feels they will be beggin to come to our church. So I loved it a lot but I also know that there is no doubt in my mind that this is the Church of Jesus Christ and he is the head of it. Boy am i so gratefull for Jospeh Smith for having the faith to pray so we could have it on the earth today! mission life is awesome y'all I wouldn't trade it for anything! So if I ever complain that its hard you remind me of this week! cause its awesome!
Love y'all hope all is well in the real world!

August 12, 2013

So this thursday I've been out a year.... that makes me sick... time flies by too fast in texas! It really is weird though I dont like thinking about it at all! But I sware more people have asked me how long I have been out this week then ever before! HOW RUDE! anywho this past week was great!!
We met with Mike a few times and his testimony is just growing strong and stronger. When I first got to Brownwood I was praying that I could see that mighty change of heart in someone, cause everyone else I taught was pretty awesome from the start. But not Mike... in fact we were all terrified to go over there cause he was so bitter and mean. But we fasted and the spirit told us to stick with him. You can just tell by looking at him the change that the gospel has made in his life. People at church, other missionaries that have met him keep telling us that they can see how much happier he is and the huge change that has taken place. Even Mike is starting to see it. It funny now we laugh about how scared we were of him cause turns out he's a big ol softy. When we got our new companion he was like im gonna try to be scary like I was before, and he couldn't even pretend anymore he has changed so much! He definatly has been a answer to my prayers!
This week I also discovered somthing about myself... I may have had it my whole like or maybe just since I've been on my mission... but Sister Rose now has a bit of a lisp... and its only on certain words... I first started to notice it a little in Lubbock then this week I was pretending to have a lisp and I was like hold up! I sound like I always sound! then I asked my companions and they were like we thought you always had one.... awkward! im just to lazy to close my teeth when I say S's so yea.... and I have developed a part utahn part texan part thug accent that really just sounds weird... probably gonna need to take a english class again when I get home... who knows maybe i'll get it right the 4th time :) right mom! ;)
Anyway I forgot my planner and it has written down everything I was going to tell y'all, but frankly I cant remember a thing that was on there and that is why im rambling about nothing!
Ash sent me some picture of everyone. y'all are just so beautiful! Cant wait to come home and try to look like you! speaking of beautiful!  Im beautiful and did my hair this week and a girl in the ward was like that is pintrest hair... so I said better take a picture to show my family! here it is! actually I lied the picture wont load... but its a good one... maybe next week!
Love y'all thanks for everything!

August 5, 2013

Silly Cassi asked me today if I knew it was shark week..... uh earth to cass of course I knew that its only my favorite week in the whole wide world! To celebrate it on my mission I have a shark sticker I hung up. So Happy Shark Week y'all! watch it for me... DVR some for me... enjoy it!
So Brownwood is going great! our new companion is freash out of training and is ready to work hard, so that is super nice! Her name is Sis. Barlow I like her a lot. She was kinda quiet the first few days but its getting better now and shes super nice. We have had a lot os success this week too. We got a few new solid investigators we are excited about. one is Mathew, We  met Mathew while morning finding we started talking and asked if there was a time we could teach him more and he said now is a great time, so we went to the parks table adn taught an awesome restoration lesson. After we tried to set up a return appointment and he said " I feel at peace right now, lets just keep going right now." so we read a chapter with him then asked again if we could set up a time and he said the same thing! But we had another appointment so we had to go but we are meeting with him tonight so we are super excited about that. He was raised by a book about how to be a gentleman so its just fantastic! went we shook his hand he bowed and stuff adn I could finally curtsie and not look out of place! oh its so fun to be a lady!
Something I did do this week that wasn't so lady like, I may have killed 3 bunnies... Sowednesday night we were driving back from San Angelo about a hour and a half drive it was dark so through "mountains" really small hills. So im thinking i'll drive slow some deer might try to pop up and kill us. So I was little did I know it was not the deer that would attack but suicidal bunnies! The were running across the road like they were playing frogger with the car or something it was crazy! anyway I missed a few but I think 3 lost their lives... RIP bunnies... RIP... Then I got the best package from home with beef jerky in it and a lovely postcard with road kill on it. Just the cherry on top. It was all kinda hilarious... the first bunny I cried then after that it was just annoying...
So the pictures. One is why Kenzie would hate texas... ran into two of these guys going to San Angelo, and I named the elders new car Shamu! so of course we are doing the wave!
Hope y'all have a blessed shark week!
